Solid drawing is all about making sure that animated forms feel like they’re in three-dimensional space. When an artist has a solid drawing, their characters will still be recognizable no matter what angle they are shown at, and no matter the amount of squash and stretch or exaggeration applied to them. As an animator, you have to determine how to pose a character properly to achieve balance and weight in every pose. Details like silhouettes should be clear and defined. Regardless if you are using a pencil or a computer to create a drawing, be sure that the illustration could work in a three-dimensional space.
